What is Mindfulness?

Being mindful means being fully present to the moment in non-judgemental awareness.

While mindfulness techniques may be employed to deal with a specific issue, it is clear that when you develop the skill of calming yourself and strengthening your focus, the benefits carry over
into all areas of your life.

An Alberta Health website  has an article explaining the health benefits of Mindfulness:
“While Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is not a “cure” for serious medical conditions and should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment, this body of research indicates that mindfulness training can have a significant therapeutic effect for those experiencing stress, anxiety, high blood pressure, depression, chronic pain, migraines, heart conditions, diabetes and other ailments. In addition, participants typically report feeling more alive, more “in-tune” with themselves and others.”
